Certified Odoo partner implementing, customising and supporting Odoo for US and Canadian companies, with an honest answer on whether Odoo is the right fit at all.

Odoo is cheap to licence and expensive to implement badly. That is the whole risk in one line. The apps install in an afternoon. Getting your chart of accounts, your inventory valuation method, and your order flow correct is where projects go over budget.
Ashapura Softech is a certified Odoo partner working with US and Canadian companies from our delivery centre in Ahmedabad, India, alongside our enterprise software development team. We implement, customise, migrate, and support Odoo, and we have done it across manufacturing, distribution, retail, and services.
Odoo fits companies between roughly 10 and 500 employees who have outgrown QuickBooks plus spreadsheets plus a separate inventory tool, and who do not want to pay NetSuite pricing. It fits especially well where operations span several functions that currently do not talk to each other.
It fits badly where you need deep vertical functionality that only a specialist system has, such as regulated pharmaceutical batch tracking or complex project accounting with revenue recognition rules. It also fits badly where nobody internally will own the system. Odoo rewards an internal owner more than most ERPs do.
We will tell you if you are in the second group. A failed ERP implementation is worse for us than a deal we did not take.
Accounting and invoicing, including US sales tax through Avalara and multi currency. Inventory and warehouse management with multi location and lot or serial tracking. Manufacturing with bills of materials, work orders, and routing. Purchase and vendor management. Sales, CRM, and quotation flows. Field service and project management. HR, payroll interfaces, and timesheets. eCommerce and point of sale where they connect to the same stock.
We also build custom modules where standard Odoo does not cover a real process, and we write them so they survive the next version upgrade. Custom code that breaks every annual release is a liability, not a feature.
| Community | Enterprise | |
|---|---|---|
| Licence cost | Free | Per user per month |
| Accounting depth | Basic, needs add ons | Full, including bank sync and reconciliation |
| Manufacturing | Limited | Full MRP including quality and maintenance |
| Mobile and Studio | Not included | Included |
| Upgrades | Your responsibility | Covered by Odoo |
| Best for | Simple operations with a strong internal technical team | Most US businesses running finance and operations together |
Most of our US clients end on Enterprise, mainly because of accounting and bank reconciliation. Community works, but the add ons required to close the accounting gap often cost more in implementation time than the licence saved.
Process mapping, 2 to 3 weeks. We sit with your team and document how orders, stock, and money actually move today, including the workarounds. The workarounds matter. They usually exist for a reason that nobody wrote down.
Configuration and gap analysis, 3 to 5 weeks. Standard Odoo configured against the mapped processes. Anything that does not fit goes on a gap list, and each gap gets one of three answers: change the process, configure around it, or build it. We push hard toward the first two, because every custom module is something you maintain forever.
Data migration, 2 to 4 weeks, running in parallel. Customers, vendors, products, open transactions, and opening balances. Migration is where timelines slip, almost always because the source data is worse than anyone expected. We run a test migration early specifically to find that out while there is still time.
Custom development, variable. Only what survived the gap list, built by our dedicated offshore team.
Training and user acceptance testing, 2 to 3 weeks. Role based training, not one long session for everybody. Your team runs real transactions in a test database before go live.
Go live and hypercare, 4 weeks. Daily availability in the first two weeks, then tapering. Month end close in the first month is the real test, so we plan for it rather than treating it as a surprise.
A straightforward implementation for a single entity with three or four apps runs 10 to 14 weeks. Multi entity or manufacturing heavy builds run longer and we will say so in the estimate rather than discovering it in month three.
We handle moves from QuickBooks, Sage, Tally, Zoho Books, NetSuite, and spreadsheet based operations. The technical migration is usually the easy half. The hard half is deciding what historical data actually needs to come across, and the honest answer for most companies is less than they think. Three years of transaction history in the new system plus an archived export of the rest serves nearly everyone better than a full migration that drags the project out by six weeks.
Support on a monthly retainer covering user questions, bug fixes, small enhancements, and version upgrade planning. Odoo releases annually. Staying two or more versions behind gets expensive to fix later, so we plan upgrades rather than deferring them until something forces the issue.
Can you work with our US accountant?
Yes, and we prefer it. Your accountant should sign off on the chart of accounts and tax configuration before go live. We set up the structure and they validate it.
Is offshore implementation a problem for a US business?
Our team overlaps 4 to 5 hours with US business hours and the project lead is on your calls. The risk with offshore ERP work is not the time zone, it is vendors who disappear after go live. Our support retainers are set up so that the same people who built it are the ones you reach afterwards.
What if we already started an Odoo implementation that stalled?
We pick these up regularly. The first step is an assessment of the existing configuration and custom code to work out what is salvageable, which is usually more than the client expects.
Do you host Odoo for us?
Odoo Online, Odoo.sh, or your own cloud. We have clients on all three. For most US businesses without an internal DevOps team, Odoo.sh is the sensible middle ground.
Send us your current systems, headcount, and what is breaking. We will tell you whether Odoo solves it, and roughly what the implementation looks like, before asking you for anything.
